Alive beneath cherry blossoms

I haven't forgotten about you all, I promise. If it makes you feel any better the 24 blog-less (?) days haven't been the most exciting; in fact they've been mostly filled with eating excessive amounts of chocolate and distracting myself from exam revision. So I suppose my excuses are pretty legitimate. Give it time though, on June 14th I'll be officially finished with exams (Yeaaahh) and will have many more hours to spend here; in fact, not to spoil any surprises, but I believe a blog make-over may even be on the cards! Recently I've been collecting a few items for summer/work experience/ sixth form so I thought I'd do a mini haul to show you all my most recent purchases. You may notice that I've found my Topshop obsession. There was a point in my life where the shop stopped 'exciting' me, although I have to admit that at present they've got some pretty sweet things- I definitely recommend a visit! I must however try my very best to drag myself out of my Topshop phase; I knew it was getting too much when I left the house at the weekend wearing the brand head to toe (and yes, I am including underwear...)

Knitted Crop Sweat- Topshop

Shadow Floral Tee- Topshop
Wills 2 Black Flatforms- Topshop
I'm an idiot. I just thought I'd tell you all myself before you came to the conclusion on your own. You may have noticed, the more observant of you anyway, that I appear to have only one ankle strap on my flatforms; this is correct. On Saturday, wearing my flatforms for the very first time, I went to the beach and after covering myself head to toe in sand decided it would be a good idea to go home, on the train, barefoot carrying my shoes alongside. It wasn't until I got home that I realised I must have dropped an ankle strap on the way. Idiotic as it may sound it is quite an unusual occurrence for me; I have always, in comparison to my sister anyway, had a lot of respect for my possessions, looking after them correctly etc.  I'm currently in the process of getting two new ankle straps made (fingers crossed) but if anyone living in the Gosforth- Tynemouth region spots a lonely look leather strap then please let me know!
White Biker Jacket- & Other Stories
I'm putting this jacket in the haul even though I technically bought it 2 months ago! This jacket was my first purchase from the store and I have to say was very impressed! Ordering of the internet, it came fairly quickly in the post, beautifully packaged and I received two free beauty samples! The 'Punk Bouquet' body lotion was extremly lovely in particular; I will not attempt to describe its scent to you all! The jacket itself is really versatile although I have occasionally felt like a bit of a WAG wearing it; it also gets dirty very quickly, as I expected I admit.
Pink Punch Nail polish- Ice Neon Collection, Models Own
Picked this up in Boots last week, it's a really nice fresh summer colour. I would upload a photograph of it on my nails but I have the most appalling hands!

Thanks for reading and I will see you soon!

With thanks to my photographer

Art GCSE Exam Piece

If you didn't know already, I suppose I did complain enough, I had my 10 hour art exam at the end of April in which I constructed a dress, developed from my initial word 'canine.' From this I looked into fox hunting and my exam piece was a combination of satire imagery, screen printing and general dressmaking. I used Barbour and Vivienne Westwood as my main inspirations for the shape and style of its garment itself; I wanted to create a dress that would be worn by the woman of the manor.
Here are some photos of my piece:

Hope you're all having a great bank holiday weekend!

With thanks to my lovely model, Catherine!

Sweet Spring

Ankle Strap Sandles- Zara TRF/ Floral Printed Dress- Zara/  So Chaud Lipstick- Mac

I feel cheated. It's spring, my favourite season, and right now I should be sitting gazing out my window at the pink candyfloss like blossom trees which line my street; in reality they are bare. Although it may not feel quite like spring I am, rather disappointedly may I add, aware it is. To be honest I haven't exactly been embracing the change in season and I am still very much in my winter wardrobe. When I saw this dress on the Zara website, I'm sorry- the high street store has become a guilty pleasure of mine (as I am sure you are all well aware), I initially thought it a tad mumsy. Since then however I've become more and more in love with this garment which even makes me feel 'springy'.  Highly influenced by the outfit the model is wearing in the picture above, ideally I think this dress would look great with these, you guessed it, Zara TRF sandals, Orangey Mac Lipstick and braids. For some reason or another I can see myself wearing this at a wedding. Someone get married?

Long days, late nights

7 days. That's how late this post is, I'm sorry I've never been great at time tracking. It's weird because I'm sitting here, at my kitchen table, and I wouldn't believe you if you told me it was Saturday night already; I don't know where the past 7 days have gone. This week has been pretty monotonous to say the least.

The metallic shoe- whatever you think of them and however controversial they may be, it cannot be denied that anyone wearing a pair will not be ignored. Personally I can't think of a better way to make a statement than with a pair of shoes and today I thought I'd show you my metallic footwear picks. Recently I've seen metallic shoes, silver in particular, popping up all over the high street and although I myself have resisted the urge to invest in a pair (they're at the top of my wishlist) I think they're really versatile and a great piece for Summer. If the thought of wearing such shoes intimidate you I recommend a more subtle pair, like these Two tone Flats. So far I think Zara hold the title for supporting the trend the most (well there's a surprise) but Asos have some nice pairs too.

Monochrome Trousers/ Zara Sandals

This week I did something very unusual. For the first time in years I did some spontaneous shopping; for me, shopping is always a very organised and planned experience. Since a disaster in the Zara changing rooms over a pair of checked cigarette pants, an experience which I do not care to relive, printed trousers and I have never been the greatest of friends. After the changing room antics I have envied anyone I've seen wearing bright, colourful fabrics in the form of trousers; so much so that I even surprised myself when I decided to order these asos checked beauties. When the trousers arrived I would be lying if I said I wasn't intimated by their bold print, which the asos photograph certainly hadn't prepared me for. After much debating I, hesitantly to say the least, decided not to take them back. Armed with the last £30 in my bank account I rushed over to Zara to see if they had anything to aid a short legged girl preparing to go out in what felt like a very outlandish pair of trousers. I bought a pair of black ankle strap sandals, which thankfully even I can walk in; although I did have to use all my willpower to avoid buying multiple pairs of metallic goodness. With the shoes, I think the trousers work (yes, even on a midget) and I teamed the look with a Topshop high neck tank (please excuse the button slip.) If you haven't noticed by now I'm also wearing Hoop earrings. There was a time in my life where hoop earrings were considered 'chavy' and although this may still be the case; I feel here they are both necessary and acceptable.

Can you tell which ones were taken on my iphone?!
On another note, I have a favour to ask you all. No, don't worry it won't take you long. I decided, as it seems I haven't before, to mention my bloglovin account. I would really appreciate it if any of my current followers, or anyone who likes this post, would follow me on bloglovin (I've heard rumours they're getting rid of the GFC)

Thank you!
Hope you enjoyed reading and I'll see you week, just before the dreaded art exam (save me!)

Accessories and Stuff

IT'S EASTER! I'm yet to decide if the holiday is a good thing as the coming of Easter means hard core revision time, but it's not all bad I suppose...after all I get I lie in tomorrow.
Recently I seem to have been spoilt for chose in terms of accessories; unable to choose something small to treat myself with I've decided to make a wishlist to show you some of my favourites.

Knitted Pixel Earrings- Elinor Voytal
Stone and Chain Collar- Topshop/ Premium Jewelled Bib Necklace- Asos

For the price of £25 you receive these 70's style sunnies with interchangeable lenses; although round glasses have never been very suiting to my face shape I am certainly very tempted by these bad boys! Festivals here I come!

Striped Shirt/ Gold chain

Recently, managing to leave the piles of revision behind, I did a bit of retail therapy and on my travels bought the Zara Striped wrap blouse I've been lusting over. My impressions? Well it certainly isn't as easy to arrange as seen on the website and I've resorted to wearing a plain cami underneath. Teamed up with my also new, Topshop gold chain I feel a cross between a gangster and a Victorian shopkeeper; nevertheless I actually quite like the shirt. Currently I'm trying to save up for some form of black jacket to wear with it as I feel a leather jacket is not quite fitting.  On the few photographs below, was not in the photo-taking frame of mind, I've worn the look with Kate Moss Matte red lipstick (111) and curly hair- In hindsight I think next time I'll opt for straight hair and nude lips.

An unnecessary selfie
I'm afraid I think I may have contradicted myself...
On another note, I'm planning to set up a polyvore account! I used to have one years ago but I feel it's probably time just to start over; I'll keep you all updated!
