Art GCSE Designs

For my art GCSE I have been studying artists Francis Bacon and Zhang Xiaotao. I have been focusing on the topic of decay and during this I've particularly been looking at carcasses, fruit and Vanitas style art. For my final piece I decided to do something with textiles as I think showcasing death on clothes is a good way of embracing it. I have noticed the hushed attitude of people regarding death and I feel like choosing to wear it defies that and it highlights how death is inevitable and a natural part of life.
Here are a few of my designs, I hope you like them!

Carcass painting- apologies for the bad photo quality!

London Fashion Week- Christopher Kane

Leather, nuts, bolts and bows; Christopher Kane's SS13 collection had it all! At first I thought Kane's collection was surprisingly feminine but it didn't take long before I began to notice the masculine touches. His collection contained many elements including simple pieces in white, candy pinks and yellows, leather jackets, duct tape and jelly rubber. These, almost forced together, elements gave the collection a Frankenstein horror like feel.

Apologies about the amount of photos! It was too difficult to decide on just a few
Although the edgy designer's clothes have always been graceful, the hemlines are all quite a lady like length next season, suggesting Christopher Kane has taken a more classy approach. So, overall I'm more than a little in love with Christopher Kane's innovative collection, can't wait to see what AW13 brings!

London Fashion Week- House Of Holland

I wish I was at London fashion week! I've spent forever checking the Vogue website for catwalk news and photos.  So far I'm pretty much in love with House of Holland's SS 13; I was anticipating something great from Henry Holland and I definitely have not been let down.

This year’s 90's inspired collection 'Buzz Kill' featured outfits with tie-dye, check prints, metallics and leather, all accessorised with beanie hats and slouch metallic boots. Is anyone else feeling a bit of a grunge vibe from this collection? I must however admit that my favourite piece was without a doubt the somewhat rebellious metallic cropped trouser, bitch tee collaboration. Top marks Henry!
